His Hands Free Clinic
His Hands Free Clinic offers free medical, chiropractic, physical therapy, mental health, women's health and dental care to people who are uninsured or underinsured.

Cedar Rapids is a community rich with resources to help people in need. While the needs still sometimes outweigh the resources, it is wonderful to have so many non-profits and groups working to help the marginalized in our community. Just one glance at the Linn County CORE resource sheets will show you how many places there are to seek assistance right here in our city. Some of the organizations focus on Cedar Rapids, others offer services to Linn County residents, and still others have resources for anyone to access.

His Hands Free Clinic is able to offer services to individuals, regardless of where they reside. While most of our patients do come from the city of Cedar Rapids, we do see a number of patients from outlying areas. In fact, in 2017, our 2,884 patient visits represented individuals from 75 different zip codes. Rural areas have less access to resources, including free clinics. While Cedar Rapids several options for free or care on a sliding-scale fee, many living in small towns may have to drive quite a distance to access care. One family drives an hour and fifteen minutes each way just to come to our clinic. We looked and there were no clinics that offered free care closer to their home. But the patient says that she is happy to drive the distance because of the great care that she gets here and because she feels so comfortable while she is here. Even just the other day an individual came in from another state to pick up his medications. He lives in a rural location but has family here in Cedar Rapids. So, when he knows that he is coming down to visit, he sets up his medical appointments and makes sure to get his refills before he heads back home.

It may seem like quite the inconvenience to those of us who have adequate health coverage to have to travel so far just to see a provider, but for those who have no other option and cannot afford to pay cash for visits, it is a blessing and time well spent. His Hands Free Clinic looks forward to continuing to serve the underinsured and uninsured from various locations and counties for years to come!
