Since 1992, His Hands Free Clinic has been seeking others who have the heart to honor God by helping the uninsured and underinsured in our community. Health Educator — Chronic Diseases

The Health Educator — Chronic Diseases is responsible implement the mission of His Hands Free Clinic by providing one on one and group teaching to patients with hypertension, diabetes, obesity, COPD, prediabetes, and other lasting conditions.

Reporting to the Clinic Coordinator, hours for this position are:

Tuesday 10:00am – 7:00pm
Wednesday 10:00am – 5:00pm
Thursday 10:00am – 5:00pm (with possible later hours 1-2 times a month)

Attendance at staff meetings one Monday per month from 1:00pm until 3:30pm is required.

Qualifications:
  • Be a committed Christian who demonstrates a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and is involved in a local church.
  • Agree with and be willing to uphold the Statement of Faith and Statement of Values.
  • Possess excellent communication, organizational, and computer skills.
  • Be self-motivated, dependable, and responsible.
  • Be friendly and respect the God-given dignity of all persons.
  • Have an active and current unrestricted Iowa nursing license if applicable
  • Bachelor of science in public health, or similar field.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing with experience in public health or similar field.
  • Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in healthcare education, preferred.
  • Ability to plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate health education programs.
  • Ability to develop educational materials and aids, and to promote and present health education initiatives.
  • Ability to achieve sustainable health education program results.
  • Ability to wok well on a team.
  • Ability to document processes, maintain databases, and provide access to resources.
  • Excellent communication and networking skills.
Primary Duties Include:
  • Provide Patient Education
  • Identify patients needing intervention
  • Schedule patients for one on one and group meetings
  • Cross train to room patients
  • Teach diabetic and other chronic disease curriculum
  • Monitor and record patients progress towards program goal
  • Provide reports every 2 months to Clinic Coordinator and Executive Director
  • Follow up on patients as requested
  • Designing and distributing health education materials
  • Facilitating health education events, workshops, conferences, and presentations, as needed.
  • Providing staff, community agencies, and organizations with access to health education resources.
  • Work in clinic as directed by supervisor

Donor Relations Coordinator

The Donor Relations Coordinator is responsible for raising funds to support the mission and operations of His Hands Free Clinic as set by the Board of Directors in conjunction with the Executive Director. This position reports to the Executive Director and supervises Church Ambassadors. This is a part-time position of 15-20 hours per week.

Qualifications:
  • Be a committed Christian who demonstrates a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and is involved in a local church.
  • Agree with and be willing to uphold the Statement of Faith and Statement of Values.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • At least two years’ experience in a human services organization or equivalent
  • Exhibit strong skills in interpersonal communication, and public speaking
  • Be able to develop and implement strategic plans and goals for the organization.
  • Ability to carry out responsibilities with little or no supervision.
  • Experience with capital campaigns a plus, but not required.
Primary Duties Include:
  • Fundraising
    • Identifies, cultivates, solicits and stewards current and prospective donors to support His Hands Free Clinic’s mission and operations through annual fund, major gift and endowment campaigns through in person meetings (hit quarterly goals for the annual fund and raise $100,000 for the endowment).
    • Lead the board of directors in donor cultivations, retention and acquisition activities.
    • Meet individually in person with board members to establish a working relationship.
    • Maintain regular communication with donors and prospects through in-person meetings and other engagement activities and set goals to move donors to new giving levels.
    • Build and maintains relationships with donor, community leaders, corporations, and foundations through in person communications (15 contacts monthly, $10,000 from new churches).
    • Present in person to community organizations and churches as requested
    • Report fundraising status to the Board of Directors
  • Training
    • Attend appropriate trade association meetings in person to stay current in the field
  • Other duties as assigned

Registered Nurse (RN) — Medication Room

The Registered Nurse (RN) — Medication Room is responsible for implementing the mission of His Hands Free Clinic under the direction of the Medical Coordinator. The nurse supervises medication room volunteers and pharmacy students, Clinic Volunteers (when needed),

Hours:

15-20 hours per week, hours may vary. Clinic hours are as follows:
Tuesday 10:00am – 7:00pm
Wednesday 10:00am – 5:00pm
Thursday 10:00am – 5:00pm (with possible later hours 1-2 times a month)

Attendance at staff meetings one Monday per month from 1:00pm until 3:30pm is required.

Qualifications:

  • Be a committed Christian who demonstrates a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as a Savior and Lord and is involved in a local church
  • Possess excellent communication, organizational, and computer skills.
  • Be self-motivated, dependable, and responsible.
  • Be respectful of the God-given dignity of all persons.
  • Have an active and current unrestricted Iowa registered nursing license.
  • General nursing pharmacology knowledge.
  • Be comfortable with talking through an interpreter either in person or over the phone 
  • Be team oriented 
  • Possess strong cross-cultural skills
  • COVID vaccine (first series) is required
Primary Duties Include:
  • Oversee medication room during patient clinics
  • Review medication requests for accuracy and complete refill orders
  • Create and maintain patient records
  • Call medications into pharmacies as directed
  • Run reports on pharmacy software
  • Sort, stock and order medication inventory 
  • Comply with rules, regulations, and procedures to maintain a safe medication room
Cross Training:
  • Assist health providers with procedures in exam rooms
  • Call patients with lab/x-ray results
  • Make sure providers have the supplies they need
  • Record keeping 
  • Room Patients
  • Triage patients on the phone as needed
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch and reach overhead 
  • Ability to maneuver throughout the facility
  • Ability to be on feet for long periods of time
  • Estimated steps up to 4,000 steps per shift.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds

25-30 hours per week, hours may vary. Clinic hours are as follows:
Tuesday 10:00am – 7:00pm
Wednesday 10:00am – 5:00pm
Thursday 10:00am – 5:00pm (with possible later hours 1-2 times a month)

Attendance at staff meetings one Monday per month from 1:00pm until 3:30pm is required.

  • 10 paid Holidays if you are scheduled to work
  • 24 hours of sick time
  • 42 hours of vacation time prorated and accrued annually


Salary range: 
$20-$24 per hour
