Volunteer
Volunteers are always needed at His Hands Free Clinic. In fact, everything we do relies on the support and efforts of our volunteers!
Check out some common volunteer positions below! We also encourage interested professionals in related medical fields (EMT, Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, etc.) to get involved.
Medical Volunteers
Providers
Nurses (RNs and LPNs), Nurse Practitioners, Physicians Assistants, Physicians, Chiropractors, and Specialists
Qualifications:
Unrestricted Iowa license, professional malpractice insurance or insurance through the VHCPP program, experience preferred.
Frequency:
Minimum once a month for two hours
When:
During clinics (Tuesdays 10 a.m. – 7 p.m., or Wednesdays and Thursdays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.) Chiropractors as available
Pharmacists & Pharmacy Staff
Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, and Pharmacy Assistants
Qualifications:
Licensed pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, experience preferred.
Frequency:
Minimum of once a month
When:
Flexible scheduling available
Note for specialist volunteers: Our patients need specialists too!
Insurance Requirements: For insurance purposes, our licensed volunteers must have personal liability insurance. If you don't carry your own, you can get the appropriate coverage through the Volunteer Health Care Provider Program through the Iowa Department of Public Health. Contact us for more details.
Dental Volunteers
Dentists
Qualifications:
Unrestricted Iowa license, professional malpractice insurance or insurance through the VHCPP program, experience preferred.

Dental Hygienists

Other Volunteer Opportunities
Administrative Assistant
Assist with filing, copying, phone calls and various other administrative tasks
Qualifications:
Pleasant attitude, organized, dependable, phone experience a plus, experience preferred.
Frequency:
Minimum of once a month
When:
Monday through Thursday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., Friday between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. and additionally on Tuesday evenings from 5-7 p.m.
Receptionist
Greet patients, schedule appointments and various other administrative tasks
Qualifications:
Pleasant attitude, organized, dependable, experience preferred.
Frequency:
Minimum of twice per month
When:
Monday through Thursday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., Friday between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. and additionally on Tuesday evenings from 5-7 p.m.
Prayer Volunteers
Pray side by side with clinic patients. We strive to offer prayer support to every patient who is seen at the clinic.
Qualifications:
A committed Christian who feels comfortable praying with others and has completed the clinic's prayer support training. Must be a member of a local church for at least 6 months.
Frequency:
Minimum of once a month
When:
During medical, chiropractic or dental clinics. (Monday through Thursday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., Friday between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. and additionally on Tuesday evenings from 5-7 p.m.)
One-Time Group Projects
His Hands Board Member
Board Members of His Hands Free Clinic provide governance to the clinic to ensure its mission is fulfilled.
Responsibilities:
Attend meetings, share knowledge, resources, and connections. Board meetings are the second Tuesday of odd months from 6 to 8 pm.
Qualifications:
- Be a committed Christian with a personal relationship with Jesus Christ
- Agree with and uphold our Statement of Faith and Values
- Be over the age of 18
- Have experience in nonprofit governance, technology, HR, community connections, or fundraising
