Caring for the Whole Person: Mental Health Program Launch

At His Hands, we believe true healing means caring for the body, mind, and spirit. Over the past year, we’ve heard from patients and community partners about a growing need for mental health support, especially for those who are uninsured and underinsured. In response, we’re excited to launch our new mental health counseling program at the end of August 2025. This program is made possible through a generous grant from the Grandon Charitable Foundation and a new partnership with Mount Mercy University. Doctoral-level counseling students will serve our patients under the supervision of our Mental Health Program Director, Dr. Ann Safo, D.O. This team will provide compassionate, professional care on-site at the clinic.

Services will include:

  • Screenings
  • Assessments
  • Treatment

By offering these services in a familiar, supportive setting, we hope to break down barriers that prevent people from seeking help.

This launch marks another step toward building more robust mental health offerings at His Hands and it’s a powerful example of what can happen when academic, faith-based, and clinical communities work together. We are deeply grateful for the partnerships and support that make this program possible. Most of all, we’re thankful for the opportunity to walk alongside our patients, meeting needs not only for their physical health but for their emotional and spiritual well-being too.
