Available medical services
Medical Care: We have licensed and experienced healthcare professionals who can treat you. If you need to see a specialist, we may be able to provide you with a referral. There is no charge for a visit to our clinic but donations for our services are always welcome.
Physical Therapy: Our physical therapy clinic is on Wednesdays. In order to be seen by physical therapy, you will first need to be seen by one of our medical providers and then be referred.
Women’s Health: Our licensed and experienced physicians provide pap smears and breast exams. Mammograms are referred out to local hospitals and the costs are most often fully covered. If a lab or x-ray is ordered, Mercy Medical Center and UnityPoint will assess your ability to pay for services.
Specialty services: If our provider wants you to see a specialist we will assist you in getting connected with the programs that provide specialty services.
A visit to the free clinic shouldn’t cost anything. If a lab or x-ray is ordered, the local hospitals (Unity Point – St. Luke’s or Mercy) will cover the cost of that test. If a medication is prescribed and you cannot afford the cost, His Hands will cover one month of that medication.
Durable Medical Equipment: His Hands receives gently used medical equipment from all over the community: hospitals, doctor’s offices, and community members. If you need equipment, please call and see if we have what you need. If you have medical equipment that you would like to donate, please call the clinic.
About your visit
You don’t need to bring anything to your visit, but there are a few things you can do to make your visits efficient and productive:
- Make an appointment. Walk-ins to the clinic are not turned away, if there is room in the schedule. Priority is given to our patients with appointments.
- Keep your appointment. If you find that you have a conflict, call us AS SOON AS POSSIBLE so that we can schedule another patient. Please do not miss your appointment without calling us.
- Write down any symptoms or questions ahead of time. It is easy to forget things when you are at the doctors office.
- New patients come early. We have our new patients fill out a health history form that can take some time. Please arrive 10 – 15 minutes early to complete this form.
