prayer and spiritual support at the free clinic

As the volunteer Chaplain, I am the new kid on the block at His Hands. This is a recently created position in which Gods’ hand has been truly evident over the last six months. The prayer support team and others have provided great referral opportunities for follow-up concerning the needs of our clients for spiritual growth and understanding.

The bible contains all we need in the way of emotional and spiritual growth in this secular world.  However, most who attend a Christian church do not take the time to study the bible or memorize any scripture from it. Why memorize any bible verses?  The mind God created provides for the total enjoyment in all His creation but, because He created us with self-will, we often make poor choices.

One of the many ways to establish long lasting positive thought and actions is to emblaze scripture on our minds and hearts to guard ourselves against the temptations we encounter every day. In Psalm’s 119:11 we find “Your word I have treasured in my heart, that I may not sin against You”.

In Matthew 23:36-38 Jesus was tested by a lawyer who asked him “Teacher, which is the greatest command in the law”? Which Jesus replied, “you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind”.

Finally, as Christians we are asked to follow one of Gods greatest commandments, and what better way to display our love for God than to know and treasure His Word.

May you be blessed as we travel this journey of life together.

In His name, Chaplain Lopez
