Need Help?

We provide care to individuals without insurance and seek to treat all individuals with dignity and respect.

To be seen by a provider

You need to schedule an appointment. Call 319-862-2636.

Our clinic is open Monday – Thursday 9am to 4pm and Tuesdays until 7pm. On Fridays we are open until noon.

If you have a medical emergency you can not be refused care at a hospital. However you will be charged for your visit.

It is a good idea to talk to a social worker about financial assistance if you go to the emergency room.

Medical Services

All healthcare providers at His Hands are licensed medical professionals.

All our physicians are licensed in the state of Iowa.

Physical Therapy is offered when our volunteers are available. In order to be seen by physical therapy, you will first need to be seen by one of our medical providers and then be referred.

Our physicians provide pap smears and breast exams. Mammograms are referred out to local hospitals and the costs are most often fully covered. If a lab or x-ray is ordered, Mercy Medical Center and UnityPoint will assess your ability to pay for services.

Anxiety and depression screenings offered. No controlled substances provided or prescribed.

Our dental clinic is open by appointment only. Please call to schedule an appointment. There is a waiting list for services.

Basic chiropractic services are offered by appointment when available.

If our provider wants you to see a specialist we will assist you in getting connected with the programs that provide specialty services.

His Hands receives gently used medical equipment from all over the community: hospitals, doctor’s offices, and community members. If you need equipment, please call and see if we have what you need. If you have medical equipment that you would like to donate, please call the clinic.

What to Expect

Dignity and Respect

It is our goal to treat all patients with dignity and respect. If you feel that you have not received respect, you may log a compliant. His Hands expects patients to treat staff and volunteers with dignity and respect. If patients choose not to give staff and volunteers the respect they deserve, patients may be asked to leave the clinic.

Safety

You can expect to be treated in a safe place.

It is the goal of the health care providers and staff of His Hands Free Clinic to provide high quality, efficient care to all of our patients. We can do this only with your help. Being on time for your appointments and making sure that you call in advance to cancel when you cannot be here will help greatly in reducing the amount of time you must wait to be seen.

Since His Hands sees patients by appointment only, it is essential that our patients be aware of and follow our cancellation and No-Show policy. Our policy is as follows:

When an appointment is made, you will be expected to arrive on time. We have reserved this time especially for you, and when you arrive late you are actually being seen at a time reserved for someone else. If you are more than 10 minutes late for your appointment, we may reschedule you for another time. Please help us provide excellent, efficient care for you and our other patients by arriving 15 minutes before your appointment.

If you have made an appointment and discover that you cannot keep it, call our office and cancel your appointment. When you let us know that you are not coming, we can fill that time with a patient we might ourselves have to turn away. We prefer cancellations be called in as far in advance as possible, and must be called in at least 24 hours before the scheduled appointment time. In times of bad weather please look at KCRG’s cancelation list and our website or Facebook.

If you fail to call and cancel your appointment, and simply do not come in, scheduling problems are created and we cannot see patients who really need to be seen. For this reason, if you fail to keep 2 appointments in 12 months you will be put on our patient waitlist.

Our clinic’s priority is to provide medical care to those who are uninsured or who have very high deductibles. If you have health insurance, we will direct you to an urgent care, if your health needs can be met there. For ongoing health issues (diabetes, asthma, high blood pressure, etc), you will need to find primary care. If you need assistance finding a provider, we can help you. You cannot wait until your medicines are out or you have healthcare need to set up an appointment with a provider. Many primary care providers are booking out several weeks for new patient appointments.
